Carla McCallum

Carla Jane McCallum has been working professionally in the industry for over 14 years as both a singer and an actor. Since graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) with a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre in 2001, Carla has taught for many performing arts schools around Melbourne, including her former position as Associate Head of Music at the Children’s Performing Company of Australia (CPCA).

As a performer, Carla has appeared in The Pirates of Penzance with Jon English and Simon Gallaher, Thoroughly Modern Millie for The Production Company, Lead Vocalist / Guest Entertainer for Princess Cruises, as well as various plays and television appearances.

Gary Nardella

Gary graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2004 with a Bachelor in Music Performance in Classical Voice After graduating he travelled and live in the Uk and Italy for 8 years learning vocal technique from some of the Europe’s and America’s greats teachers in opera and musical Theatre. Gary has performed internationally with Jean Ann Ryan Productions, The 12 Tenors European Tours, Luca Opera Italy Gary has taught singing in Europe’s most prestigious stage schools such as Silvia Young Academy of Performing Arts,

London, The Next Step! Musical Theatre Workshop, Fredericton Canada, Academia Musicale di Firenze, Italia Conti, London and has helped many students perform on the Westend and Melbourne in professional productions.

Ian Andrew

Ian Andrew is a teacher, performer, composer, pianist, musical director, accompanist and lecturer with fifteen

years’ experience in the performing arts. He completed a Ph.D. in Music Studies at the Elder Conservatorium

while studying voice under the guidance of Opera Australia’s Peter Hopkins before moving to Melbourne and

studying musical theatre at APO Arts Academy and voice with West-End performer Derek Taylor.

Ian is an active and passionate actor and musician and has performed principal roles in numerous operas and

musicals in Victoria and interstate. He was the 2017 winner of the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria award for

Best Supporting Actor in a Musical, was twice a state finalist in the MBS Young Performer awards, was the

recipient of the 2012 Arnold Matters Vocal Scholarship and was awarded ASME Young Composer of the Year

for five consecutive years. He is also frequently engaged as a musical director and arranger for productions

including operas, showcases and original cabarets, has appeared in several television commercials/programs

and is a sought-after teacher and accompanist for auditions, examinations, recitals and performances with a

vast knowledge of technique and repertoire across multiple genres including classical, jazz, music theatre

and contemporary pop/rock. He teaches all ages and levels of experience from beginners to VCE/tertiary

students to industry professionals and many of his students have gone on to work professionally in the

performing arts including roles in musicals as well as corporate and international cruise-ship contracts.

Jess Phillippi

Jess is a graduate of Showfit and The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Theatre in 2015. Her credits at WAAPA include ‘Thalia’ in a workshop presentation of Matthew Robinson’s Atlantis, ‘Little Becky’ in Urinetown, ‘Serena’ in Legally Blonde, and ‘Chris Hargensen’ in Carrie. While at WAAPA, she studied voice with Dr. Aaron Hales.

In December 2015, Jess played the role of ‘Macy’ in Cottesloe Films’ short musical comedy ‘Library of Love’ alongside ‘Glee’ and ‘Scream Queens’ writer Ian Brennan. Jess’ other credits include ‘Nine’ (Manila Street Productions), the Australian & International tour of ‘Paw Patrol Live’ (Life Like Touring) and Diana Morales in ‘A Chorus Line’ (Mad About Theatre). Jess has been teaching voice across Perth and Victoria for the past five years, with several students receiving accolades at eisteddfods and acceptance into full time courses. Her classes focus on safely developing students technique and coaching repertoire. Jess holds a current Working With Children’s check.

John Lander

Internationally recognised vocologist, John Lander specialises in the training and development of voice, with particular interest in correcting vocal impairment arising from misuse or physical damage. He has assisted the rehabilitation of voices affected by a wide variety of disorders, including: dysarthria arising from head injury; semiparalysis of the larynx; vocal fold nodules and fibrosis; and hyperactivity of laryngeal musculature. As a performer over more than forty years, John has sung professionally world-wide, as soloist in a wide variety of operatic and concert productions.

A former Ambassador to Iran and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Paris, John has also had extensive experience as public speaker (in English, French, German, Italian, Chinese and Farsi – in which he has also sung and taught).

Stephen Valeri

Stephen has been training in voice for over 20 years. He has worked with some of Australia’s leading teachers, vocal coaches and musical directors, having trained in Contemporary, Musical Theatre and classical singing. He holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts from Monash University and is a graduate of full time musical theatre course, SHOWFIT.

His most recent theatre credits include Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle in the Sydney premiere of ‘Mack & Mabel’ (Hayes Theatre Co./ Working Management) and Man 3 in ‘First Date - The Musical’ (Pursued By Bear/ Chapel off Chapel). Further credits include ‘Reporter/Ensemble’ in ‘Floyd Collins’ (Octave Theatre/ Chapel off Chapel), Elephant/Papa/King in ‘The Silver Donkey - Workshop’ (SHOWFIT) and Storyteller in ‘Children of Eden’ (Magnormos).

In recent years, Stephen has established himself as an up & coming cabaret and comedy performer. His debut show ‘FAT BOY SLIMM…ER’ played as part of the 2014 Melbourne Fringe Festival (Dir: Sara Grenfell). In 2016 March ‘VALERIOUS’ debuted at Adelaide Fringe and his most recent offering ‘YOUR DIVA NEEDS YOU’ enjoyed a successful Melbourne season to critical acclaim in October 2017. In January 2018, he joined the cast of ‘Grease - The Arena Experience’ in the role of Roger for the Sydney season.
